Rugby School Japan's Summer Football Camp with Liverpool Football Club International Academy Japan

Hosted on RSJ's state-of-the-art campus in Kashiwanoha, this football training camp gives young players the opportunity to accelerate their development, benefit from Liverpool FC's elite coaching methodology, and train in an environment built to inspire and challenge.

This is more than a football camp. It is an intensive programme where players grow on and off the pitch, supported by two organisations that share a common belief in excellence and Whole Person Development.

The Liverpool Way: a Proven Pathway to Sporting Success

Liverpool FC is one of the most successful football clubs in the world, built on a legacy where success is in its DNA.

At Liverpool, there is a deep commitment to developing imaginative, skillful, and intelligent footballers, while also nurturing young people to grow as individuals on and off the pitch. This philosophy, known as The Liverpool Way, is an approach that goes beyond football. It is about how every player is supported to become the best version of themselves.

Over the years, this approach has produced world-class players such as Steven Gerrard and Curtis Jones, alongside many others who have progressed through Liverpool’s renowned academy system. Today, that same coaching model and philosophy are delivered across Liverpool's International Academies the world over.

RSJ is collaborating with LFC IA Japan to bring the same standard of coaching directly to the Rugby School Japan community.

The Whole Person, The Whole Point

At Liverpool FC International Academy Japan, youth development goes far beyond building skills on the pitch. Expert coaches understand how to bring out the very best in each individual, not just as a player, but as a person. A philosophy that aligns closely with RSJ's own Whole Person, Whole Point ethos.

During Rugby School Japan's Summer Football Camp, participants will be supported, challenged, and encouraged in ways that build confidence, resilience, and self-belief.  Each day, your child will leave not only technically stronger but also as a more confident and motivated young person, with a genuine love for team sports and a belief in what they are capable of.

Sign up today and give your child the opportunity to experience the same philosophy and technical skills development that have nurtured some of the world’s best players.

A Programme Underpinned by our Shared Commitment to Whole Person Development

What sets RSJ’s Liverpool camp apart is not just the quality of coaching but the philosophy that underpins the curriculum, coaching, and culture.

At Liverpool FC, the player is always at the centre. Every session is designed to support long-term development, with a focus on growth, enjoyment, and personal progression. While everyone loves to win, Liverpool prioritises personal and physical development. Success is measured through holistic progress - ensuring players build a lifelong love of sport.

What to expect:

  • A World-Class Coaching Curriculum: The camp's curriculum closely mirrors Liverpool's youth academy programme, ensuring players receive a structured football education delivered through one of the world's leading youth development systems.
  • LFC Coach Accreditation: All sessions are delivered by Liverpool FC-accredited coaches, trained through the club's official coach education programme. Through ongoing development and direct alignment with the Liverpool Academy, coaches remain up to date with the latest methods and practices.
  • Player-Centred Coaching: LFC IA Japan's player-centred environment ensures feedback is continuous, encouragement is constant, and that every child is both challenged and supported to progress at their own pace.
  • Enjoyment at the Core:  Enjoying football is fundamental to player success so sessions are designed to be engaging, high-energy, and fun. Because that is how players develop best.
  • Ability-Appropriate Sessions: All sessions are tailored to age and ability, ensuring every player is appropriately challenged while feeling confident and supported
  • Values-driven: Football is more than winning, and LFC's junior coaching is more than pitch skills. The LFC approach is driven by values, ambition, integrity, passion and unity. Coaches help players to understand and demonstrate these values in everything they do - both on and off the pitch.
  • Daily English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes: For those also seeking to improve their English proficiency and public speaking skills, campers can also benefit from daily EAL and presentation skills sessions - with a focus on conversational English, and football and sports terminology.

What Will Your Child Learn during Rugby School Japan's Summer Football Camp?

During the camp, pupil development will be viewed holistically. Players will therefore be supported across multiple areas to ensure they grow across multiple dimensions.  Liverpool’s model focuses on developing players across five key areas:

  • Technical - players will develop their technical ability through focused sessions on passing, dribbling, and ball control - while also improving their tactical understanding of the game. Throughout the week they will learn how to make better decisions, read situations and play with real intelligence.
  • Tactical - players will develop a deeper understanding of how the game is played, not just how skills are executed. Through small-sided games and guided match scenarios, they will learn positioning, movement off the ball, and how to operate effectively as part of a team. Sessions will focus on recognising patterns of play, making quick adjustments, and understanding both attacking and defensive responsibilities within different game situations.
  • Physical - Physical development is integrated naturally through high-tempo sessions. These help players improve their agility, coordination, and overall fitness in a football-specific context.
  • Cognitive - players will be encouraged to think independently and make decisions under pressure. Through structured challenges and game-based learning, they will develop focus, game awareness, and the ability to process information quickly. Coaches will guide players to reflect on their choices, helping them build confidence in their decision-making and develop a more composed, intelligent approach on the pitch.
  • Social - Confidence, resilience, communication and teamwork are all actively developed, guided by Liverpool's core values of ambition, integrity, passion, and unity.

Q2. IS THERE AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT?

There is no formal language proficiency requirement, but all communication during the camp is conducted in English. We ask that participants have some understanding of English so they can follow instructions, engage fully with the programme, and request support whenever needed, both for their safety and to get the most out of the experience.

Q3. CAN PARENTS, GUARDIANS, OR CHAPERONES STAY ON CAMPUS WITH PARTICIPANTS DURING THE CAMP?

To ensure our campers have the best possible experience we ask that parents do not remain on campus during the programme - so as to allow coaches and players to focus.  There will, however, be an Award Ceremony at the end of the camp where parents can join us to celebrate their child's success.

Q4. CAN PARENTS VISIT RUGBY SCHOOL JAPAN WHILE THEIR CHILD ATTENDS CAMP?

Absolutely. Parents who would like to tour the campus are welcome to do so. Please contact our admissions team on admissions@rugbyschooljapan.ed.jp.  They will be happy to arrange a school visit.

Those attending the camp will enjoy a nutritious lunch plus snacks throughout the 3 days. We will request allergy information from families nearer the camp start date.

Q6. WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

Once a place has been confirmed, we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds unless the camp is cancelled by us. We encourage families to carefully consider their availability and travel arrangements before booking.
