For Parents Who Want Their Child to Experience Authentic British Boarding - Just 30 minutes from Central Tokyo

Give Your Child a Taste of a British Boarding Education in Greater Tokyo - Only at Rugby School Japan’s Summer Camp

Sunday, 28th June - Friday, 3rd July 2026

Every moment of the Rugby School Japan’s Residential Summer Camp reflects life as a pupil at RSJ and intentionally helps your child grow academically, physically, creatively, and personally:

Experience British Boarding with Confidence

See Your Child Think More Clearly and Expansively

Support your Child to Discover Emerging Talents

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a parent will ever make.  And if that decision involves sending a child overseas, the stakes feel even higher. Questions about fit, pastoral care, independence, and long-term development can turn an exciting opportunity into an overwhelming process.

Yet the real challenge goes beyond academics. Top global universities and future employers are no longer persuaded by grades alone. They are looking for poised, confident, well-rounded young people who can communicate with maturity, think independently, and adapt with ease. These are qualities best nurtured in environments that develop the Whole Person.

This is where Rugby School Japan stands apart.

Built on the long-established British tradition of “Whole Person” education, RSJ offers an exemplary, character-building experience where personal growth and academic ambition go hand in hand. Here, strong relationships, thoughtful guidance, and purposeful challenge shape young people who thrive in an international world.

And for families considering RSJ, there is no better way to experience this than through our Residential Summer Camp 2026. Throughout 5 immersive days and nights - from Sunday, 28th June to Friday, 3rd July - your child will step into life at RSJ. They will live in our boarding houses, learn alongside new friends, and explore activities designed to build confidence, curiosity, and adaptability.

For many parents, this experience brings clarity: Does my child flourish here? Is this the right school for our family?

Our Summer Residential Camp gives you and your child the answers with the reassurance that comes from seeing your child enjoy themselves within a truly exceptional setting.

During RSJ's Residential Summer Camp 2026, your child will:

  • Gain confidence in speaking and understanding English
  • Learn to communicate with peers from diverse cultures
  • Develop global awareness and social adaptability
  • Build friendships that transcend language and nationality

The Whole Person The Whole Point

Rugby School Japan's unique Whole Person Whole Point ethos is rooted in 3 core pillars of academic, pastoral, and co-curricular excellence - all of which your child will experience during the Residential Summer Camp 2026.

Academic Curiosity - sparked by inquiry-based learning and RSJ’s specialist teaching staff

RSJ centres its teaching approach on a high-touch pedagogy.  This is delivered through personalised learning, that allows our teachers to understand every pupil on a deeper level - so they can get the best out of them.

During the RSJ Taster Camp, RSJ’s own specialist, British teachers will lead interactive, dynamic academic lessons, guiding each child to think independently, ask questions, and explore individual passions.

Campers will experience lessons that spark intellectual growth and discover how our educational approach instils curiosity and inspiration in every learner.

English Immersion That Accelerates Cross-Cultural Confidence

RSJ is a diverse community - comprising pupils from 30 different nations. Our boarding houses provide a safe environment where pupils can immerse themselves in English language, establish an international network and develop into globally minded individuals.

During the camp, participants will be grouped by English proficiency to ensure that every camper feels comfortable, included, and appropriately challenged. RSJ prioritises learning, collaboration, and socialising in English to ensure an inclusive environment for our diverse student body.

Co-Curricular Activities That Unlock Passions and Build Character

Over 200 years ago, Rugby School UK was the first to pioneer holistic education - or our Whole Person Whole Point ethos.

This means education at Rugby School is about much more than academic achievement. It is about facilitating diverse opportunities beyond the classroom - and developing children’s character so they are fully prepared for life after school.

  • Through Creative Arts - imagination, problem-solving, and innovation are kindled as students bring their ideas to life.
  • In Performing Arts - their confidence, self-expression, and communication skills shine as they step into roles, present ideas, and engage creatively with others.
  • Through Sport - campers will develop teamwork, resilience, and leadership as they collaborate and compete in a supportive environment.

The RSJ Summer Taster Camp encapsulates the breadth of opportunities pupils find during a typical week at RSJ. Campers will experience the emotional, physical, and creative growth that RSJ pupils experience daily, while uncovering passions that will last beyond the camp.

Experiential Learning Through Tokyo Excursions.

Super-curricular excellence is a fundamental part of an RSJ education. We stretch pupils outside the classroom through talks, excursions, and hands-on experiences. These are foundational for pupils, letting them explore the context of what they are learning in the classroom.

During this programme, campers will enjoy exciting excursions to cultural and educational centres in nearby Tokyo. Past excursions have included Team Labs Immersive Art Gallery, Miraikan Future Museum, and the Glico Ice Cream Factory.

We carefully plan each trip, offering campers opportunities to follow their curiosity, ask questions, and connect their learning to the real world around them.

RSJ’s dedication to super-curricular excellence sets our pupils apart in university applications and future employment, as they consistently demonstrate their curiosity, ambition, and commitment to learning beyond the classroom.

The Boarding house: Where independence and friendships blossom

Our British-style boarding houses are the heart of RSJ. Many RSJ pupils describe their boarding house as a "home away from home", thanks to the tight-knit and supportive community. Specialist pastoral staff are available to support our pupils 24 hours a day.

Friendships form quickly and naturally within the warm, community-focused boarding houses, and children learn to take safe, meaningful steps toward independence.

We intentionally limit device time to strengthen human connection and community. Instead, RSJ staff lead daily communal activities, such as baking, table-tennis tournaments, games nights, and crafts sessions, that bring the house together, deepening confidence and belonging.

Throughout the RSJ Taster Camp, RSJ’s pastoral staff support children around the clock to ensure they feel safe, understood, and encouraged. The evening activity programme creates meaningful connections by bringing children together through shared activities.
