Introducing Rugby School Japan's Residential
Tennis Camp 2025
Tennis is not just a game. It is focus under pressure. It is discipline disguised as fun. It is also one of the fastest ways to build confidence and resilience - both on and off the court. And a great way for your child to get outside, to play and to be active this summer.
Which is why Rugby School Japan is thrilled to invite your son or daughter to join our 5-day Residential Tennis Camp - where they can experience accelerated growth, expert coaching, real results, and a week packed with joy.
The camp will take place from 29th June to 4th July 2025, at Rugby School Japan’s Kashiwanoha Campus.
It does not matter if your child is a complete beginner, or if they regularly battle it out in local (or even national) competitions. Players of all levels will benefit from being guided, challenged and inspired by some of the best in the game.
Train Under the Guidance of an
Rugby School Japan’s Residential Tennis Camp is led by Bosko Tesic. He is an elite-level tennis coach with over 25 years’ experience - including two years training under the esteemed Jelena Gencic. This is the very same mentor who discovered and developed Grand Slam winner, Novak Djokovic.
So you can rest assured that this camp will be much more than casual drills and a game or two. It will be a chance for your child to train under the guidance of a serious coaching team - with plenty of support and enjoyment to keep them engaged and excited.
As well as training Rugby School Japan's tennis players throughout the year, Bosko Tesic has worked in countless schools, elite academies, and international tennis camps in Japan - for over 15 years.
Bosko holds USPTA Professional 2 certification, and during this summer camp he will be coaching a group of just 20-30 students on RSJ’s courts - supported by an experienced team of professional coaches.
Every morning and afternoon is structured with purpose, with days split between:
Our first area of focus will be Technical Drills. These are designed to build consistency, muscle memory as well as improving stroke mechanics and form.
By allowing young players to repeat core movements, technical drills make forehand, backhand, serving, and volleying become second nature. This leads to fewer unforced errors and better technique.
Match play allows young players to practice new and advancing skills under pressure. Matches are unpredictable and that is why match play is an essential way for players to put theory into practice.
Unlike drills, matches force players to react in real time, adjust to different opponents, and develop better instincts. So it is essential for players to dedicate time to competing against each other in a low-stakes environment.
Skill Building is the bridge between technique and confidence. While drills sharpen technique and match play builds experience under pressure, skill-building sessions are where everything comes together.
Skill-building helps players target specific development areas, improve coordination, and help lay the foundations for future growth.
While participants will be stretched and challenged to meet their potential on court, they will do so in a way that feels more like discovery than instruction.
Camp participants will begin arriving during the evening of Sunday, 29th June. Upon arrival, campers will be warmly welcomed by Rugby School Japan's highly-trained boarding staff and settled into their home for the next 5 nights.
Monday kicks off with a series of drills designed to assess and sort players by level. This gives Bosko and his team the insight they need to tailor the rest of the week for maximum progress. In the afternoon, players review the fundamentals of tennis—grips, footwork, strokes, and positioning—making sure everyone has a strong base to build on.
On Tuesday our focus turns to groundstrokes—those bread-and-butter shots from the back of the court. Mornings are spent breaking down forehands and backhands into their technical parts. Afternoons move into live drills, helping players bring those skills into real rally situations.
Wednesday is all about transitions—moving from the baseline up to the net with confidence and timing. These are game-changing skills, especially for players looking to develop all-court games. As always, mornings are technical, afternoons are tactical.
On Thursday we will introduce the serve and return—the two most important shots in any match. Players learn to build consistency and power in their serve, and how to read, react, and return effectively. Expect breakthroughs and “ah-ha” moments.
And on Friday, we will bring it all together. In the morning, students review what they’ve learned. In the afternoon, they play a friendly tournament—organised by group level—where they can show off their progress and enjoy the thrill of match play.
Delivered across 5 days, Rugby School Japan’s Residential Tennis Camp is designed to accelerate your child’s progress and increase their confidence on and off the court.
The programme will culminate in a fun, friendly tournament, where participants can showcase their new skills in a relaxed setting.
